Texas - Houston and College Station

"Howdy, Ya'll." These are pics from our last stop on the Tour de Texas. We left San Antonio fairly early for the 3 hour trip to Houston. By the way, on this trip we saw 5 of the top 15 most populated cities in the country. Houston was #4, San Antonio #7, Dallas #9, then Fort Worth, and Austin. We made it to the Astros game and Minute Maid Park in time for the National Anthem. Brandy had a famous Minute Maid Park stuffed potato, minus the BBQ, so it actually wasn't the famous one. The stadium was unique....covered on this particular hot day. And the crowd was as quiet as I have ever heard at a baseball game, which shouldn't surprise me. The Astros are the second worst teams in MLB this year. After the game, we found the infamous Beer Can House...yes, a house actually made of beer cans and that IS occupied. Then, we left for Johnson Space Center. JSC was supposed to only be 20 miles, but it took us over an hour to get there. Then it looked like half of Texas was there, so we actually didn't go inside. Next stop....Maggiano's for some good Italian food and then on to College Station, TX and the campus of Texas A&M. Our larger than life Texas vacation ended at the Texas A&M Bonfire Memorial, a very moving tribute to the history of that great tradition and all those students killed in the 1999 Bonfire and others.
