Texas - Waco, Austin, and San Antonio

The second day of our trip was a series of 90 mile drives. We left Arlington and drove 90 miles to Waco and visited Baylor University. Then we headed over to the Dr. Pepper Museum and had a homemade DP made for us. Good pictures here too. Finally, we headed out of town a bit to the site of the Waco Siege of 1993....the Branch Davidian Compound. That was an eerie trip. You can see the memorials for those killed, including an infant daughter of Koresh. There was also a memorial for the OKC bombing victims a few years later. After Waco, we drove 90 miles to the state capital, Austin. You can see a good pic of the Capitol Building and of the University of Texas. The tall building is the iconic UT Tower, the infamous site of the UT Sniper in the '60s. After Austin, we drove 90 more miles to historic San Antonio. We stayed with good friends from Georgia, Amy and RJ Diepenbrock. Amy and RJ took us to the Alamo and then over the Riverwalk. After a boat ride tour, we had dinner at the first restaurant on the Riverwalk. Good stuff.
