MSU Fan Appreciation Day

The annual MSU Fan Appreciation Day was yesterday in the Palmeiro Center, so we headed over there for a couple of hours to check out the scene. We went last year too, but Will was obvioulsy too young to know what was going on. I posted some pics last year of us at the event. You should go back through the archives to August of last year and see how much Will has changed in that time. Anyway, we went this year and he had a blast...running all over the place and checking people out. I missed one photo of D. J. Looney, a 280+ pound offensive lineman, playing with Will. It was a sight to see.

On a minor note, we do seem to have a bit of a celebrity football player this year and he's not even played a down yet. Dylan Favre (yes, Brett's nephew) is a true freshman QB this year. He broke all of Brett's high school records and was the MS Player of the Year last year. He's a little...um...vertically challenged though. Yet, the team seems to respond to his leadership quite well. It'll be interesting to see if he gets any playing time this year. Brandy did make the observation that he seems a bit different than his uncle...as Brett is more of the good ole' country boy and Dylan was spotted with an F tattooed on the back of each arm. But, hey, if he can put us in the endzone, I don't care if he has the whole alphabet inked on his body. Let's Go Dawgs...everyone is pumped and excited about the new season....6 days away.

Looking Glass Falls, Sliding Rock, Asheville, NC and North Georgia Mountains

We took a slight detour after we left the beach to go visit with Liz and Stuart in Asheville, NC. On the way up, we stopped in the Pisgah National Forest just southeast of Asheville and found Looking Glass Falls and Sliding Rock. We were able to go down in Looking Glass Falls, but due to thunder, we weren't able to slide on Sliding Rock, a 60 foot natural waterslide that dips into a natural spring. We'll be back though. On the way out of Asheville, we stopped by the Grove Park Inn to see if we might want to vacation there one day. Quick answer...Yes! That place is absolutely beautiful. We tried to get to the Biltmore, but we just ran out of time. We made good time on the way home through the Western North Carolina and North Georgia mountains. We found Tallulah Falls and Tallulah Gorge State Park on the way home. Impressive. The pictures won't really do justice to how pretty the scenery was or how steep the Gorge was. We left there, drove through Atlanta (early dinner with Grandma and Grandpa Joseph) at Parish, then drove through rain all the way home.
